In case you are a business that maintains your own corporate profile on social platforms you are way past the point and you already own logo design and a website. So, needless to say, you know all about the ownership of logo design by now. But how much do you know about the social post ownership that is delivered through graphic design! Probably not much. Today, let’s discuss it at length.
While logo design is usually made from scratch, making its designer have all the credits. During the point of purchase, the ownership is transferred to the owner (unless you are dealing with an astute designing firm, who charges extra). However, things are not so simple for graphical posts as most of them are made by using some image. This image can either a picture (captured in a camera) or a vector (created on a digital software). It involves at least 3 parties for you to get the final product.
Royalty Credit And Fee
The people who are capturing the shot or the ones who are creating them on their software are the people who have the royalty of the image. They might claim credit or fee, every time this particular image is being used. It might appear as a watermark of the original owner name, which may or may not include the title or the location of the image.
Depository Credit And Fee
No one is going to run after the photographers or graphic designers to ask for their portfolio, so the stock depository saves thousands of such registered images. Each of these images in the database is the property of the depository and it often claims credit, and can only be used without the watermark if it is purchased.
Designing Credit And Fee
Once the image is purchased, the designing firm edits them, add text, makes changes according to your business need. Though it is quite rare, few dishonest designing firms put their own logo in a corner as a watermark, even after the point of purchase. This is done either to showcase their portfolio to the world or to gain some extra money as hidden charges.
At Purpple Designs, we purchase out images from the image stock depository which claims no royalty or image credit. While purchasing the image we pay for both royalty and depository and we handover the overall right to the respective client or their business during the point of purchase.
