‘Fake It…Till You Make It’
Well, this motivational quote is often seen on the internet. It looks like an ideal way of buffering until you become a master UNLESS you are a logo designer. Learning to do stunts with the mouse on the designing software does not many anybody a good designer. It defines those who deliver original, customized, quality logo design, every time. They care about their client’s utility and usefulness more than doing experiments simply for the sake of decorating their portfolio.
In the realm of logo design, a plagiarized logo is very common. For those who don’t understand the concept well, it is a term to emphasize that a work has been copied from another source. It is often associated with intellectual property, including a literature work, music piece, brand name and also brand logo.
It might sound it too silly for any sane graphic designer to offer a plagiarized work, but the statistics of copyright infringement is being reported more frequently these days. Many a time, many logo designs are an inspiration from some other great work, as an inspiration. Inspiration is good, everyone should try it once in a while, but the problem occurs when a logo design involves taking more than inspiration.
‘Checking out’ the logo design if the similar business is what every designer do in the early years of works. However, benchmarking and inspiration is very different than a plagiarized design. Many a time, it happens that designer simply makes a replication of a well-designed logo they find on the internet.
Sometimes, designers assume their trick won’t get caught as they are using a logo from a business located in the other part of the globe. But they forget that the platform of internet unites the entire world under one umbrella. Downline should be, “If it is available for you to copy from, it can be found for filing against copyright infringement as well”
However, note that 9 of every 10 plagiarized logo designs is found in the work of a freelance logo designer. Thereby, in order to ensure that you are not going to face the same legal troubles, it is always advised to hire a logo designing firm instead of going for crowdsourcing and freelancing.
